Reverse Osmosis Maintenance: We get asked a lot, “What do I have to do to maintain my RO?” or “How often do I need to change the filters?”. In short, most homeowners need to change their filters at least once a year.
This depends on water consumption. An RO in a home that has 5 people living in it will need more frequent filter changes than a home servicing 2 people.
What is included with a RO maintenance? Most RO systems consist of a series of 3-4 sediment and carbon filters as we as a filter membrane.
The sediment/ carbon filters need changed regularly, while the membrane has a longer lifespan. We typically see membranes lasting 2-3 years.
When we visit your home to maintain your RO, we start with a thorough inspection, followed by testing for Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). If TDS is above a certain ppm (parts per million measurement), we elect to replace the membrane at that time.
If it’s well within an acceptable range, we leave it for next time. If sanitization is needed, we will do so.
Next, we replace the pre and post filters and reconnect the system and check for leaks. Lastly, we follow up with another TDS reading to ensure everything is working correctly.
Our professionals make the whole process minimally invasive and convenient. Call AquaCheck to get your RO serviced or to have a new system installed today!
